History

For more than 55 years, Bennett Benner Pettit has been recognized as one of the Metroplex’s finest architecture and planning firms, specializing in the planning, design and management of large, complex projects. As one of the most respected architecture firms in Fort Worth, Bennett Benner Pettit has extensive experience with civic, educational, federal, commercial and industrial facilities.

Offering architecture and structural engineering services to a broad range of clients, Don W. Kirk, Consulting Engineer was founded in 1956, and was responsible for many landmark projects in the region. In 1965, the firm went through the first of many name changes when Don W. Kirk, Consulting Engineer was renamed Kirk Voich and Smith Architect-Engineer. In 1967, the name changed to Kirk and Voich Architect-Engineer, and as the firm continued to grow it became Kirk Voich Gist, Inc. (KVG) in 1986.

Randy Gideon and James Toal joined the firm in the early 1990s and, reflecting the transition to a new leadership team and additional services to the community, the firm became Gideon Toal in 1997. Shortly after the transition to the new name, three additional principals were named to the company.
Michael Bennett joined the firm in 2004 as a principal and has served as Chief Executive Officer since 2008. Bruce Benner has been with the firm since 1984 and was named Principal, President and COO in 2001. David Pettit joined the firm in 2003 and was named Principal and Director of Economic Development in 2007.

In 2008, both of the firm’s former namesakes announced their retirement. In 2011, the firm was renamed again to Bennett Benner Pettit to reflect the current leadership of the firm. Today Bennett Benner Pettit is located in downtown Fort Worth on Seventh Street in the Bank of America Building.
