Shady Oaks Country Club, opened in 1958, suffered an electrical fire and the resulting fatal water and smoke damage in 2003.  Some of the characteristic elements were restored and incorporated in the new structure - walnut and cherry wood doors and movable wall panels, the entry doors and hardware, and copper exterior sconces. The new building also utilized a portion of the basement and the porte cochere foundation.
