TCU Ballet
Fort Worth, Texas
Since 1973, TCU’s successful Ballet and Modern Dance program has been housed in the historic physical education building, one of the oldest buildings on campus. The growth of the program has led to the need to expand and further renovate the existing building. The three phase addition and renovation includes additional dance studios, classrooms and labs, faculty offices, and a 250 seat dance performance space.
The new addition seeks to gently connect to the existing building, preserving views of the building and views from the existing dance studios. Circulation and entry spaces into the new building express the movement of dance through the flowing forms of the glass enclosure walls and roofs. The walls of the theater space and the classroom and office wings are clad in the blond brick that is the traditional building material at TCU.
