TCU Jarvis Hall
Fort Worth, Texas
Opened in 1911, Jarvis Dormitory is the oldest building on Texas Christian University’s southwest Fort Worth campus. Jarvis was built as a women’s dormitory and has served as that up until now. With TCU’s recent growth and with changes in student housing, Gideon Toal has been asked to renovate Jarvis into new facility incorporating career services, student services, university ministries and music classrooms and offices. The design provides a new entry into the building on the west side of the campus including an entry lobby and elevator. Interior and exterior student gathering spaces are also incorporated into the new design, which complements the original building’s style and materials. Jarvis Hall’s historic exterior will be restored, including a second floor terrace on the east side of the building that was removed in an earlier renovation.
