The center consists of educational and museum space concerning nature, with specific emphasis on riparian life of the Trinity River. While concentrating on the preservation of the site’s natural ecosystem, the design of the facility incorporates the concept of sustainable design, using recycled or renewable-resource building materials for the structure. This effort included the use of salvaged trees from totally separate development projects as structural columns for the building and the use of stabilized soil as walkways from the parking areas in lieu of concrete paving.
