The Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, though well-known for its drive-through safari park and successful animal conservation and breeding programs, was in need of an updated master plan to guide its short- and long-term capital improvement plans. Bennett Benner Pettit was retained to produce a master plan that looked at several key areas of the park. The master plan calls for a new entry area that includes improved entry facilities and retail as well as an orientation center. The “Overlook” halfway-point area, which uses the scale of an African hilltop village as its inspiration, is slated for an improved restaurant, new retail shops, outdoor dining and play areas, and a new petting zoo. New camp facilities, educational facilities, and a new resort hotel and conference center are also included in the master plan.
